Omah Stanley Didia, professionally known as Omah Lay, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer celebrated for his unique Afro-fusion sound, which blends Afrobeats and R&B with introspective lyrics. Born on May 19, 1997, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Omah Lay comes from a musical family; his grandfather played instruments for the singer Celestine Ukwu, and his father was a drummer.
Omah Lay began his career in 2019, initially as a songwriter and producer, before going solo with singles like "Do Not Disturb" and "Hello Brother." His breakthrough came in 2020 with the release of his debut EP, Get Layd, which featured the hit songs "Bad Influence" and "You," and quickly topped the Nigerian Apple Music charts. This led to him being the first African artist featured on Apple Music's "Africa Rising" program.
His debut studio album, Boy Alone (2022), received critical acclaim for its raw vulnerability and unique sound, with hits like "Soso" and "Understand" gaining international recognition.
